What Visitors See Before They Scroll Decides Everything

I review landing pages for agencies and in-house teams regularly. The same problems show up over and over again.
Giant hero images that push the headline below the fold on mobile. Navigation bars with 8 links competing for attention. Vague headlines like "Welcome to Our Platform" that say nothing about what the visitor gets. Auto-playing videos that slow the page load to a crawl.
Here's what your above-the-fold section needs to accomplish in under 3 seconds: tell the visitor what you do, who it's for, and what they should do next. That's it. Everything else is noise.

Start with the headline. Make it specific to the problem your visitor has. Not "The Best Marketing Tool" but "Stop Losing Leads to Broken Forms." See the difference? One is about you. The other is about them.
Then your subhead should add one concrete detail. A number, a timeframe, a result. Something like "We've helped 400+ stores catch checkout errors before they cost real money."
Your CTA button goes right under that. One button. One action. Don't give people three options above the fold. Give them one clear next step.
Use PageSpeed Insights to check that your above-the-fold content renders within 2.5 seconds. If it doesn't, strip out whatever is slowing it down. A fast above-the-fold load with a clear message beats a pretty page that takes 5 seconds to appear.
Test It on Every Device
What looks great above the fold on your 27-inch monitor might be completely below the fold on an iPhone SE. Pull up your landing page on your phone right now. Can you see the headline, the subhead, and the CTA without scrolling? If not, you've got work to do.
